Grants from private foundations and local, state, and federal government are a great source of support for many organizations. However, researching, writing, and preparing grants can be time consuming and difficult for anyone balancing many responsibilities. I have a decade of experience finding and applying to grants for a variety of organizations and I know how to build a strong proposal that will increase your chances of being funded - whether you need general support, project, capacity building, or capital funding. I would love to help you find grant opportunities and submit winning proposals.

Contact me today to talk about your funding needs and to learn and how I can help.

About Me

I’ve loved writing since I was six years old, and discovered grant writing during college as a way to merge my passion for social justice and community change with my love of language and communication.  I have been writing grants ever since, working and volunteering for many nonprofit organizations over the past ten years.

A native of North Carolina, I headed north for college, where I studied at Williams College in Massachusetts and Oxford University in England.  Since then, I’ve lived and worked in Washington, DC, and Berkeley, California.  I have been based in the Triangle area of North Carolina since 2012, where I enjoy helping nonprofit organizations raise the grant funds they need to make a difference in the community.  When I’m not writing grants, I enjoy cooking, yoga, reading, and being outdoors.

Carynne is professional, organized, friendly and easy to work with. She has been proactive in finding grants that fit our organization’s needs and providing helpful feedback that will help us grow.
— Julie DeConto, Reality Ministries
I’m so grateful to have had the chance to work with Carynne. She listens well, grasps the essence of programs, and is able to communicate their value to funders in language they understand. In work where people with big hearts are sometimes short on details, Carynne’s attention to the entire process is invaluable.
— Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove, School for Conversion
Carynne is an excellent writer in general and an excellent grant writer in particular. She is very easy to work with. She is also very smart and is a real innovator as well. If you are considering hiring her i suggest that you look no further.
